FTSE 100 defends UK tax payments as report shows 37pc paid no corporation tax in 2010

Britain's largest companies have defended their record on paying taxes as a new report showed that 37pc of the FTSE 100 paid no corporation tax last year, putting pressure on the Chancellor as prepares this year's Budget.
